Sedation Dentistry

dental anxiety | bangor me dentistAt Maine Family Dental, Dr. Travis Buxton offers nitrous oxide (laughing gas) as a dental sedation option to help patients relax during procedures.

What is nitrous oxide?

Nitrous is a gas that you breathe through a mask worn during your treatment. The effects are fast as nitrous produces happy, relaxed, and even euphoric feelings.

Nitrous can be used during most types of dental procedures including preventive cleanings and checkups if needed. It is also safe for children who are anxious to use during their procedures.

Benefits of nitrous oxide

The benefit of using nitrous during your dental procedure is that it leaves your system just as quickly as it started helping you relax. As soon as the mask is removed the effects of nitrous begin to fade making it safe for you to drive and also resume the normal activities of your day.

Schedule a sedation appointment

If you think nitrous oxide might work well for your dental procedures, we encourage you to talk with Dr. Buxton. Patient comfort is a primary goal at Maine Family Dental, and we're always happy to offer options to help patients feel more relaxed and at ease during their time at our office. Contact us at 207-947-1166 for more information about nitrous oxide and how it can help you.
